Summer in the country was beautiful, especially here in the camping ground Clint found. If it weren't for the creature comforts Loki enjoyed in Stark's tower (and the fact that Clint needed to stay with the Avengers) he would consider moving out here permanently. It was quiet, cooler at night, and so dark most of the stars visible from Midgard were clear in the night sky, at least tonight.
Loki sits next to the campfire, looking up at the stars. It was like the old hunting trips he use to go on as a child, except with people he actually likes.
Clint smiles as he makes sure the tent is secure Kyle watching him carefully. He shows the boy how to set up the tent, and lets him unroll the sleeping bags inside.
He and Kyle find a couple of good sticks and come back over to the fire. 'I don't think Loki's had a S'more before.' He signs opening the bag of marshmallows.
'I haven't either.' Kyle answers looking up at the sky.
'What is a S'more?' He'd heard the others talk about them, even Thor seemed as if he had had the treat before, but Loki had never bothered asking.
Kyle comes over and clambers into Loki's lap. He's getting bigger, Loki notices. The first time he held Kyle in his arms his head barely touched Loki's chin. Now the crown of the boys head comes about level with his mouth.
Clint smiles, "delicious that's what a smore is." Clint laughs, "So, you take graham cracker, set a square of chocolate on it." Clint shows them, "I Like to set the square on one of the rocks by the fire so the chocolate gets a little melty." He grins.
"You put your marshmallow on your stick, and hold it over the fire." He says showing the, he rotates it slowly. "Important, if it catches on fire, blow it out, don't shake it out." He says, "Marshmallow burns aren't a joke."
Both Loki and Kyle follow Clint's example, fixing their chocolate and cracker, then skewering the marshmallow on the stick and holding it over the flames. Loki gets his a bit too close to the flames and it catches fire. Pulling it out the god grimaces at the blacked exterior before blowing it out. Kyle giggles, turning his like Clint, getting it perfectly golden brown all the way around.
'It's okay some people like them burnt." He smiles at Loki signing for Kyle, and speaking out loud. He pulls his out of the fire and checks it, and then puts it on the graham cracker and chocolate and puts another graham cracker on top and pulls the stick out. 'See S'more..." he grins.
He helps Kyle put his together and waits for Loki so they can all take a bite together.
Loki shrugs and puts his s'more together. All at once the three of them take a bite of their treats. Kyle giggles as the marshmallow gets all over his chin, Loki tries in vain to clean his own chin up with his even stickier fingers. Despite the mess the two of them are smiling and chewing. The burnt outer crust of Loki's gives his marshmallow a slight bitter taste. His next he will be more careful not to burn it.
Loki wipes his own face clean before reaching for the hot dogs they brought in the cooler.
'How about we eat some real food before more sugar?' He spears two hot dogs on one of the sticks they didn't use for marshmallows and holds it over the fire.
Clint spears a dog and starts rotating it over the fire, smiling at his family. 'Are hotdogs, real food, Uncle Bucky, says the aren't unless there... K O S H E R' he asks brows raising a little as he watches the dogs roast.
Clint laughs and nods, 'Yeah You're uncle Bucky is is right."
Kyle signs that he wants ketchup and relish on his while Loki says he will just have his plain.
He pokes Kyle and points up at the stars. 'See the group of stars? Those are the branches of Yggdrasil.' He spells Yggdrasil and then shows him a special sign for it.
'It is up there, right about there.' He points to where Asgard sits in Earth's skies. It is a bright star, though along with the other stars that sit along the branch.
Loki scoots closer to Clint, squishing Kyle between the two of them.
Loki turns at the last minute so Clint actually kisses him on the lips. Kyle doesn't notice, or if he does he doesn't say anything. They're fairly affectionate most of the time so he's pretty use to it.
Kyle wrinkles up his face, in an expression that is seems he very likely got from Clint and laughs. Clint smiles watching the pair this was a very good idea.
